Size: 32x, 64x, 96x, 128x, 256x
Theme: Faithful
MCPatcher required: Yes

Comments: Another HD faithful alternative, I prefer it to Defscape. The textures are more detailed and less bland IMO. Also ,as an interesting note, among the definitions it's available in it's 96x96, making it the only RP to date to offer it that I know of.

Name: Misa's Realistic
Download: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/69354-64x162-misas-realistic-texture-pack-updated-1jul13/
Size: 64x
Theme: Realistic
MCPatcher required: Yes
Screencaps: [gallery][/gallery]
Comments: I'm not a fan of "realistic" packs because, IMO, they don't fit with MC's tone (Toony fit more IMO). That said, if I were to use a realistic pack, I'd use Misa's. Not only is it very detailed, but it also includes plenty of animated textures and comes in a very easy on the hardware 64x resolution, whereas most realistic packs are made at 128+. Added a couple of extra pics to show the slime's randomob textures (they were too funny to pass up X3), as well as that pretty alpha-blended glass, which is an MCPatcher exclusive (OptiFine only shows up empty frames).

Size: 64x
Theme: Rustic
MCPatcher required: No
Screencaps: [gallery][/gallery]
Comments: This pack's tone is very similar to that of JohnSmith's, but steps away of the RPG theme a lot of other packs have. While an interesting alternative, I didn't find anything particularly noteworthy about this one. Not bad, but not that great either.

Comments: Another variation of the rustic theme. I find this one has a similar feel to JohnSmith's. The color palette is a bit too drab for my tastes tho, and there are a couple of textures that need some fixing/updating. Otherwise it's a nice, solid choice.

Name: Painterly Pack
Download: http://painterlypack.net/
Size: 16x
Theme: varies
MCPatcher required: Yes
Screencaps: [gallery][/gallery]
Comments: One of the classic packs. Painterly is very nicely detailed for a 16x packbut its true strenghth lies in it's very robust customizer. Do note that the screenshots show my personalized version. If you don't like something in particular in the default textures or the screenshots, odds are the customizer has an option you will like. This is by far my favourite 16x resource pack.

Comments: Another altrnative in the native 16x. I don't really like this one, thetextures feel somewhat... I'm not sure... dirty, maybe? I think what's happening it's that artists sometimes try to cram more details than 16x16 can support without looking too "cramped". Anyways, not a big fan of the color palette or thetextures on this one, tho props for the spartan-looking gold armor.

Comments: I had a hard time deciding where to stand with this one. On one hand, the textures feel somewhat "dirty" and rough (tho I think that's by design), and the color palette is a bit dull IMO. But otoh, the level of detail is impressive for 16x16 textures, and I feel like I should give it bonus points for being one of the few (the only one I know of so far) 16x packs that make full use of MCPatcher's features (CTM, randomobs, better skies, custom colors and better glass, among others). While my rating won't be too high, as I don't feel this one is for me, I encourage you to give it a shot, it might be just what you are looking for.

Size: 64x
Theme: Toony, Faithful
MCPatcher required: Yes (This pack uses a lot of MCPatcher exclusive features, Optifine won't let you experience this pack 100%)
Screencaps: [gallery][/gallery]
Comments: The perfect blend of toony and faithful. The author calls it semi-faithful because while he tries to stick to the default palette and the feel of the default blocks, he's not above taking some small liberties as long as it looks good and keeps to the spirit of minecraft. Unfortunately this pack is still a WIP, and even though most of the blocks and several of the items are done, there is still work to do, as you might've noticed. Still, the author updates this pack at least once a week, so the progress is steady. And look at that glass! Isn't that just gorgeous? This is hands down my favourite RP so far.
Rating: 11/10!!!! (Yes I'm biased :P)

Name: Soartex Fanver
Download: http://soartex.net/downloads/
Size: 64x
Theme: Smooth
MCPatcher required: Yes
Screencaps: [gallery][/gallery]
Comments:This is another "Legacy" pack: in which the original author left and a community team took up the work of expanding and maintaining it. It has a very smooth, subdued feel, and it feels semi-faithful at times, although it changes enough small things that I'm hesitant to call it such. The pack sometimes feel a bit dull, tho, although it does take advantage of MCPAtcher's Better Glass. Speaking of glass: *IMPORTANT ISSUE* As of this pack's latest build (2.6.1) the author made the glass CTM biome-dependant, meaning that in some biomes you will have panes of uninterrupted glass, while in others it will revert back to the grid-like look. The author claims it was done as a sort of compromise between the pro-CTM and anti-CTM crowd, but IMO that's the wrong way to go. The transition is just too jarring, and ends up looking as if the pack is bugged out or something.
Rating: 7/10 (sorry but the wonky CTM is a pretty big issue IMO)

Size: 16x, 32x, 64, 128x, 256x, 512x
Theme: Toony
MCPatcher required: Yes
Screencaps: [gallery][/gallery]
Comments: This is one of the most popular RP's, and I can see why. The toony style fits Minecraft really well IMO, and the level of detail, coupled with it taking advantage of advanced MCPatcher features, make for a very nice looking pack. Also, the animated Nether textures are really neat. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the crate-looking wooden planks.
WARNING: This pack is *very* resource intensive. Unless you have a very robust gaming PC, I suggest trying the lower (64x and below) resolutions.

Comments: This is a bright, lighhearted pack with a similar feel to Jolicraft or GMC. It's a good, solid choice, eventhough I don't find anything particularly outstanding. I do like the armors tho.
NOTE: There's currently an issue with the endermen and spider skins. They show up as white, even with MCPatcher installed. There's a fix posted in the forum thread linked.

Kinda  ;D

My goal is to post one review/day until i'm done with all the RP's I have downloaded already. After that I'll post a new review whenever/if I come across one I find particularly interesting.

I only change RP's when I'm doing a review tho. On normal play I tend to use either SixtyGig, or Painterly.
