Title: Possible reset!

Normally we reset the world once a year in January, but since 1.7 will be doing a lot of changes to the main world the question becomes wether we should reset it or wait?

What players will keep:
All items and one premade house that store those items.
All claims blocks before and after all claims are deleted, the premade house will be claimed in the users name.
Any animals they choose to keep, replacesments will be made on the new server.
A limited number of player made structures.

What players will lose:
All unsaved structures except the premade house.
All claims except the premade one.

I say we reset for 1.7. I wouldn't mind a Fresh start :3

its a floating island biome, and it isn't confirmed as it creates lots of lag

What I'm curious about is the last picture. Is that hardened clay? Or maybe a new block?

Wait, does that mean we're goign to be able to get Hardened Clay directly? Wouldn't that be kind of OP? Unless it's just a placeholder for another block in that pic...

getting stained clay isnt difficult at the moment, just get a silk touch shovel and even if you dont have one it is still easy

You don't need Silk Touch, you can craft clay blocks out of clay balls. Hardened (and stained) clay however, require you to smelt the clay blocs, costing coal/fuel. So making hardened clay naturally available in such great quantities seems a bit, idunno, unbalanced IMO. Then again, it might just be a placeholder. I guess we will need to wait until the snapshots and see what it is they are really doing.

true you need some extra resources, but i got more the 5 stacks of coal blocks and it isnt hard to find some more, you can compare it to sand sometimes it is easyer to get some out of a lake but there is also a biome for it. and the thing with silk touch is that you dont need to convert it.

It looks like the guys at Mojang where not sitting on there buts this summer.
the first snapshot is out and it looks quite impressive, not only have the introduced many new biome's and a few block,
they also added new flowers and mechanics
hit the button below for the stuff the community already found in the new snapshot.

    New Biomes[4]
        Clay Canyon (also known as Mesa) biome, jokingly referred to as "Disco Mountains".[5]
            Composed of multiple colored hardened clay.
            Dead bushes spawn in this biome.
        Redwood Forest (coded as Mega-Taiga) biome.[6]
            Contains 2x2 Spruce trees.
            Will have a grass block variant known as Podzol.[7][8]
                Currently obtained only by the silk touch enchantment.[9]
            Contains dirt blocks that do not allow grass to grow.
                They have a data value of 1.
                Only obtainable with /give because there is no visual difference.[10][11]
            Moss Stone "boulders" are scattered around in this biome.
            Dead Bushes, Mushrooms, and Ferns spawn in this biome.
        A cliff technical biome.[12]
            Main block is stone.
            Like Steep hills, not completely vertical.
        Savannah biome.[13]
            Curved Acacia-like Trees[14]

Improvements & Changes

    Changes to oceans.[16][17][18]
        Oceans are smaller and take up much less of the map.[4]
    Biomes have been put into four main categories.[4]
        Snow-covered
        Cold
        Medium
        Dry/warm
    Biomes will attempt to avoid getting placed next to a biome that is too different to itself.[4]
    Most biomes have uncommon/rare variations.[4]
        Non-snowy taiga variation.[13]
        Coded as Extrem Hills+ variation that have spruce trees
    Spruce Trees will generate in Extreme Hills biomes or a variant of them. [19]
    Snow may now generate depending on Y level, with noise variation.[20]
        Biome dependent.[21]

    Melon Blocks now spawn naturally in Jungle biomes
    Water and Ice are no longer translucent on Fast graphics

Improvements & Changes

    Changes to fishing mechanics.[22][23][24][25][26]
        Can now find other items other than fish by fishing, including enchanted fishing rods, damaged fishing rods, name tags, Lilypads, saddles, Rotten flesh, Leather, or damaged boots.[27]
        Up to 15 different items can be caught including new fish types (Salmon, Clownfish, and Pufferfish).
        There are 3 piles of rewards: treasure, junk and fish.[28]
            New enchantments that change your luck when fishing.
            New fish type called Pufferfish[29]
                Will poison you, give you nausea, and give you hunger if eaten.[30]
                Will be used to brew a water breathing potion.[31]
            New fish type called Raw Salmon.
                Can be cooked and eaten.
            New fish type called Clownfish.
    New particle effects.
        Fishing now has many different particle effects. [27]
            Bubbles will show up near your bobber just before you have something on your hook.
        Falling now has particle effects.[32]
    Redoing the achievements and statistics system.[33]
        Will be per world/server.[34]
    New scoreboard functions.[35][36][37][38]
        Can now use statistics to create objectives; anything that statistics can track can be used as an objective (can also track achievements).
            This is the reason why statistics/achievements were changed to be stored per world/server.
    The /give command can now give items to players with custom names and lore [39]
        It can also give enchanted items.
    The /time set day command now sets the time to 1000 instead of 0.
    Obtainable Water Breathing Potion item [40]

    Written Books can now be cloned the same way maps can, but by using Book and Quills instead of Empty Maps. [52]
        Can clone multiple copies of the same Written Book by putting more Book and Quills in the crafting grid.[53]
    Item Frames
        Now drop the item inside them when punched, then drop themselves if they are punched when empty. [54]
        Will display the name of the item they hold (if it is custom named) when looked at up close.[55]
    Sugar Cane texture changed slightly, also changes depending on biome.

    Changed the display item for the Decoration Blocks tab in the Creative mode inventory from the Rose to the new Peony flower.[68]

again i can't say when the server will be updating we will first wait untill the full release comes out and bukkit updates to a stable build.

Mmm, interesting, though i hope they don't go overboard with new biomes ^^;

I'm also undecide on the clay canon biome. On one hand, yay! Free clay!. OTOH, i can't help but think it feels like cheating ,somehow ^^;

BTW dl'd the snapshot and created a world just to check which colours of clay you can get from Disco Mountains. You can get "normal" Hardened Clay, and white, light gray, yellow, orange and bron Stained Clays

already a lot of bug fixes and less new features, does this mean it will come out soon? time will tell
